Chaplain Jennifer Silvey

Born and raised in Indiana, I graduated from Ball State University with a BS in Elementary Education.  I married my husband shortly after graduating.  After working in the public school system for a time, I had a daughter – and then a second.  I was fortunate enough to be able to stay home with them but kept busy with a few part-time jobs and was active in my church.

Once my girls entered school I felt a deep desire to do something different with my life.  Shortly thereafter I was invited to visit to attend a Bible study at the Miami Correctional Facility in Bunker Hill, Indiana.  The minute I walked into the room with those incarcerated there I knew I was where God wanted me to be.  In the spring of 2003 I was connected to the Hamilton County Jail through a friend.  Since then God has opened doors for me to love and share the gospel with many amazing women there.

I periodically attend educational conferences and seminars and am an Associate Member of the International Conference of Police Chaplains through my affiliation with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
